Find Those Industry Executives
Here’s a great tip on how to get signed to a record label. Just because a music executive doesn’t formally have A&R in their job title, that doesn’t mean they can’t get you a record deal. If you work in or around music, odds are, you think you’re an expert to some degree on music. Why? Just being in the environment can have some privy to understanding not only what works but what the record labels are willing to sign.
Any smart person who wants to get signed to a record label knows that it is critical to network with music industry professionals. So, while doing so, don’t look past the Brand Manager, Promotions Coordinator or even Social Media manager at a networking event. Introduce yourself and start building a genuine relationship. If you’re successful at doing this, you’ll find out if they can help you get that record deal. At the very least, they can introduce you to someone else who can if they can’t. Now keep in mind that you have to invest the time in building a real relationship with this person first. If you meet them on monday and start asking about a record deal on tuesday, you may not ever be able to capture their attention again. Use this strategy with caution.
Sometimes when you think about how to get signed to a record label, you have to think about the not so obvious strategies that you can employ! Hey, if it was simple, everyone would have a record deal.
